Sustainability — Sound Healing Retreat Bali Sacred’s Environmental & Community Commitments

Sustainability & Community Impact

Rooted in the Philosophy of Tri Hita Karana

For us, sustainability is not a marketing term; it is a sacred duty. Our entire operational philosophy is guided by the core Balinese principle of Tri Hita Karana, the three causes of well-being: harmony with the divine, harmony among people, and harmony with nature. We believe that a truly transformative travel experience must not only enrich the guest but also honor and protect the destination’s cultural and ecological integrity. As a responsible entity under Juara Holding Group, we are committed to a model of tourism that is regenerative, respectful, and leaves a positive legacy for Bali’s future generations.

Our commitment is woven into every aspect of our operations, from the partners we select to the experiences we design. We are dedicated to minimizing our environmental footprint while maximizing our positive social impact.

Our Environmental Commitments

Carbon Responsibility

We acknowledge the environmental impact of travel and take concrete steps to mitigate it. We partner with a VERRA-certified carbon offset provider to calculate and offset 100% of the carbon emissions from all client and staff air and ground transportation. Our chosen projects focus on vital Indonesian initiatives, such as the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve project for peatland and orangutan conservation in Kalimantan.

Eliminating Single-Use Plastics

We have a zero-tolerance policy for single-use plastics across our operations. All our partner villas are contractually obligated to adhere to this standard. Guests are provided with personalized, reusable glass or metal water bottles upon arrival, and all amenities are supplied in refillable, locally-made ceramic or glass containers.

Water & Energy Conservation

Water is a precious resource in Bali. We exclusively partner with properties that demonstrate a strong commitment to conservation, utilizing rainwater harvesting, advanced water recycling systems for gardening, and energy-efficient lighting and appliances. We encourage guests to be mindful of their consumption, providing gentle reminders and information on the local water situation.

Marine & Reef Protection

For any coastal or marine-based experiences, we ensure the highest standards of environmental care. We donate 5% of the revenue from these activities to the Coral Triangle Center in Sanur, a local NGO dedicated to protecting the region’s vital marine ecosystems. We also provide guests with reef-safe sunscreen and educate them on responsible snorkeling and diving practices.

Our Community Commitments

Local Employment & Fair Wages

We believe that the benefits of tourism should flow directly to the local community. Over 90% of our on-the-ground team—including our drivers, guides, villa staff, and local coordinators—are Balinese. We are committed to paying wages that are significantly above the industry standard and provide all full-time employees with comprehensive national health insurance (BPJS Kesehatan) and social security (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan).

Supporting Local Economies & Artisans

We consciously channel our spending into the local economy. We source all our produce for in-villa dining from local organic farms. The welcome gifts, textiles, and ceremonial items provided to our guests are purchased directly from artisan cooperatives in villages renowned for their craft, such as the weavers of Tenganan or the silversmiths of Celuk. This direct-trade approach ensures that the artisans receive fair payment for their incredible skill.

Cultural Preservation

Our mission is to be custodians, not consumers, of Balinese culture. We work closely with our cultural advisors to ensure our activities are respectful and non-intrusive. A portion of our profits is allocated to a community fund managed by Juara Holding Group, which provides direct financial support for temple ceremonies (odalan), the maintenance of sacred sites, and funding for local gamelan and dance schools to help preserve these vital arts for the next generation.

Community Development

We engage directly with the local village councils (banjar) in the areas where we operate. We listen to their needs and contribute to projects they identify as important, which have included funding for waste management and recycling programs and providing educational materials for local schools.
